TECHNOLOGY AND CIVILIZATION

Whenever I think of civilization, I always remember technology. When technology is achieved then, problems could be solved. Technology being an acquired knowledge with a potential power and imagination to improve on the application of science and technological advancement in a society. It is true that anybody irrespective of position or predicament, when faced with problems; should be able to reason logically to solve his or her problem through technology. With respect to this, I usually make use of my father’s invaluable advice that says, “Use what you have to get what you want”. To expatiate on point, I will like to tell you a story which goes thus. Sometime ago, there was very rich man who was about to do a wedding for his daughter. He was so rich, intelligent and hardworking. The man was an engineer who so much believe in himself. He then decided that anybody who could be technologically more advanced than himself would marry his daughter; but he thought nobody could find himself in such a position to marry his daughter. One night, he and his driver were coming from an outing when his car had a flat tyre. But, unfortunately it was raining heavily. Hence, the driver in an attempt to make things snappy, lost four nuts to erosion. Effort were made to get it but it was all in vain. The engineer even used the principle of magnetization to search for the nuts in the gutter, but it was no avail. There happened to be a mad man that was walking around aimlessly. He asked the rich man if he could assist him to solve his problem. But, the man ignored the mad man thinking that he (mad man) was insane. But the mad man felt concerned and he told the engineer that if he solved his problem, he should give money to buy cigarrete in return. So he told to the Engineer to remove one nut each from the other three (3) wheels so that each wheel would be left with three (3) nuts, then he used the acquired three (3) nuts and he would be able to live the dangerous spot, and when it is daylight he should buy four nuts to replace the lost ones. The rich man was very surprised that a mad man is technologically intelligent; he therefore promised to make the man sane and also give him his daughter as he promised earlier. This implies that, the mad man made use of his technological intelligence to change his life. He used what he had to get what he wanted. He used technology and his problem was a forgone issue.
